Being authentic is NOT enough to make it as a content creator

I hate to break this to you...

Table of Contents

We need to talk. You’ve been sold a lie. And no, I’m not talking about the whole “sleep when the baby sleeps” (we all know that doesn’t work for everyone). I’m talking about why your brand isn’t blowing up like your kids’ Summer calendar.

They say: “Be Authentic” but that’s not enough!

If nobody knows who you are, or worse, you’re blending in with every other Creator, you’re basically one of many.

Look, I get it. We all want to be authentic and relatable, but here’s what no one told you:

Branding isn’t just about “being yourself.” It’s about standing out.

You’ve got to be the latte in a world full of lukewarm decaf 🤢

If you’re not making people feel something, you’re basically another tired face in a sea of mom hacks, trends, and momlife memes.

But, How Do You Do That? 🤔

3 No-BS Tips to Stand Out

1.Find the Enemy 😈

Every good story needs a villain. What are you fighting against? It could be:

  • The “perfect Pinterest mom” myth

  • The burnout of trying to juggle it all

Pick your enemy and go after it. Nobody cares about a wishy-washy message. Make people choose sides.

2. Get Comfortable with people Unfollowing you

You’re not here to be everyone’s bestie. That’s how you end up forgettable.

Instead, create a message that repels the wrong people and attracts your tribe. Sure, not everyone’s going to like what you have to say, but that’s the whole point. You’re not here for mass appeal; you’re here to build a loyal audience who gets you. This will not only give you consistent engagement, but results for your business!

3.Build your brand first, prove your expertise later

Here’s another lie we’ve all heard: “Just be an expert, and people will come to you.” Tell that to the thousands of “mom experts” out there whose content is gathering dust.

Reality check: Being great at what you do isn’t enough. You need to present it in a way that sticks with people.

So, What Does This Mean for YOU?

It means it’s time to stop playing small. Ditch the “just be yourself” advice and swap it with, “Be yourself, but shout it like you’re calling your kids for dinner—and make it a message they can’t ignore.”

You’ve got opinions. You’ve got a unique perspective. Don’t hold back because you’re afraid of losing a few followers. The ones who leave? THEY WERE NEVER YOUR PEOPLE ANYWAYS!

But the ones who stay? They’ll become your ride-or-die community or are there to copy you or hate, which its a form of engagement, so let them 😉
